SWE MX Cup, Mörksuggejakten

Went as expected more or less. I really couldn´t expect more after being sick for 2 weeks and then trained only 4-5 times. It´s very frustrating for me to race if I´m not prepared for it, but I really needed a hard workout before the national champs this week, so it was the best thing to do. But I hate being so far back and not being able to contest for the win at races I normally do. Came in 10th after being in the 2nd group for most of the race and then fading in the end. Congrats to Anders Ljungberg who took the honors by the way. So even though I´m out of shape for this year´s champs I ´ll go "A bloc" (Fullgas) and let´s see what happends:-) I was in Falun today and tested the TT and XC course, which both were hard but good ones. The individual time trial is on thursday evening and the XC on Saturday.

Scheisswetter!

From 30dgr summer days last week to 12 dgr and pouring rain = swedish summer? Managed just over 3hrs today the roadbike on the roads around Älvdalen and Mora. Once soaked I figured I might as well continue. At one point it rained so hard and was so windy I couldn´t see the road at all! But I was thinkin; Eh c´mon, harden the F... up!!

Back on the bike finally...

Well, my cold didn´t go away as fast I wanted. So there was no chance of getting fit enough(or 100% healthy) to race the XC in Norberg today. Too bad, was looking forward to that. And I would have needed it too. But whatcha u gonna do?

I have been on my bike yesterday and today though. My first trainings since almost 2 weeks and I felt that I lost quite a bit form. Almost(only almost:-) bonked after 2,5 hrs today waaay out in the middle of nowhere. Okey Älvdalen, where I´m at now, is a bit "middle of nowhere" already, but today I was alone on gravel roads where I´v never been. Was a cool ride in the end, but for a while, when I was lost and tired I really asked myself what the heck I was doing there alone in th e middle of the military area north of Trängslet(for those who know where that is!) ! And it´s not like there´s a gas station along my route where I can and ask for directions... Of course there´s no cell phone coverage either. But these things makes it exciting right? Right!

No race this weekend either!

Sitting here with a sore throat since a couple of days. After some good training days in Älvdalen last weekend I woke up with a sore throat on wednesday, and it´s unfortuanaly still there. So I´v decided to skip the Marathon Cup(Långloppscupen) Ränneslättsturen on Sunday. So that sucks big time. Who´s gonna stop the Team Kalas now?

And by the way, Big congrats to my club mate in Knänums IF Alexander Wetterhall who kicked everybodys ass in the Swedish road TT Champs yesterday!

So next up will be Norberg Kalas XC next Sunday(5/7), I hope I´ll be back in business by then. After that the it´s another Swe MX cup, Mörksuggejakten(12/7). Then it´s time for the Swe XC Champs in Falun. (17-18/7)

Gone Fishing!

The plan was to race "Solleröloppet" on Midsummer/Friday. My intention was to use it as training primarly. So when it was 7dgrC and pissin´down when I looked out in the morning in Väsa, I decided it was smarter not too race/train in this. and alot nicer too... So I took a rest day and went fishing instead. Perfect activity in the rain and. Caught 2 nice ones:-) After that we enjoyed nice Midsummer festivities in Rämma fäbodar just outside Väsa/Älvdalen with friends.
Saturday and sunday I did some nice road rides around Älvdalen and Mora. Tried to find as many hills as possible to ride, cause back home in Kungsängen I´m getting tired of these 30sec-1 min hills(not even) But I´m feeling pretty good and it was nice to ride up there. Next weekend it´s another Marathon cup , this time it´s Ränneslättsturen in Eksjö. There I wanna play some ball....

2 Swedish XC Cups, Borås

Skithelg! (Shit weekend)

2 rounds of the swedish XC cup was held in Borås this weekend. On saturday´s race in the rain and mud my tire choice was not working at all and after that I lost my motivation, rythm and pulled out! Magnus Darvell won the race ahead of Magnus Palmberg.

So I was really motivated to do a good race on sunday. I all was going quite well until I during the 4th out of 8 laps snapped my chain. And it was all over.... Before that I led the race alone during the first 1,5 lap, before getting caught by the old(but still fast dog:-) Magnus Palmberg. I lost contact with him after a chainsuck, but kept him within 10-20 seconds and starting to feel better and hoping to join him to fight for the win. But the positive thing is that I felt my legs were turning ok on sunday and I could go pretty fast again.

But c´est la vie eh....

Now I´ll head up north to our cabin in Älvdalen to train, celebrate Midsummer and also race the "Solleröloppet" on friday and then most likely a crit on saturday.

Lida Loop

The 2nd round of the Swedish Marathon cup Lida Loop was held just outside Stockholm. I had higher hopes then my 7th place last weekend since I felt my shape is coming along bit by bit AND I also like the terrain around Lida. I felt great during the first 2 out of the 3 loops and won both sprints at 22 and 44 kms. We were a relatively large front group going out on the last loop, but then I started to suffer from cramps and could not follow the attacks. Only just hang on to the chase group of 4. I tried a couple of attacks in the final kms but I didn´t have enough power to sprint for a better place then a 6th. A so so race all in all. Good in the beginning, nice to take the sprints, but I had hped for more in the end.

Next up is 2 XC´s in the swedish Kalas Cup this weekend in Borås!
